Our anniversary

Tuesday it was our anniversary. 13 years married! Wow! Mike took the day off and his parents came to babysit and we hit the links. We golfed a round of 18 holes.

When we were first married, we lived in Provo near 7 Peaks water park and golf course (I'm pretty sure the golf course isn't there anymore). Anyway, my uncle was the Pro there. And I thought it would be fun to have him give us golf lessons and we could take up golf together. Well, Mike wasn't very excited about it and he didn't really want to. I told him in a few years when he was into his career, he would be golfing all the time, for business purposes. He didn't believe me. Well, we had the lessons, bought golf clubs, and I actually worked at the golf course as the Snack Cart girl...and got free green fees. Okay, so here we are, 13 years later and who goes golfing ALL the time at retreats and in tournaments---and it is all work related---I have to slip in an "I told you so" every so often. Mike is a great golfer, too. It is a fun thing to do together, and I would recommend it, but I would also spring for the lessons, it makes all the difference.

My swing

Mike used this setting on the camera to take super-fast shots in a row and he captured my golf swing when I was teeing off. I should have a pro look it over and tell me what I'm doing wrong. The good thing is that in the last picture, the ball is gone...always a good thing after you swing your club!

Nurses call the shots

Just a quick "shout out" to my sister, Lindsay! She passed the boards--hooray! I am very proud of her and I know she'll make an awesome RN.

Missionary Homecoming

On Sunday we went to hear my cousin speak in sacrament meeting about his mission to Russia. It was such an awesome talk! My aunt was telling me that they had heard from some of his companions that came home before Andrew about what a great missionary he was. Apparently he would sometimes preach in the middle of the city up on a box just like some of the first missionaries of the church. Also, once he was riding a bus and started at the front and all the way to the back talked to each person riding that bus about the church. He also said that his mission is in desperate need of couple missionaries to serve in that area. He bore such a strong testimony that the church is true. He told us not to let Satan bind our tongue, but to speak up and share the gospel. He also said that there is a higher level of joy that you get to experience when you are actively sharing the gospel. I felt the Spirit so strongly in that meeting. I am so glad I got to be there.

Fun Run

My calling right now is Stake Athletic Director for Women. Last Saturday we had a Stake 5K/1 mile Fun Run. We had a great turnout and it was nice to see whole families coming out to get a little exercise. Click on the pictures to see them bigger.

In front of the blue truck is Audrey and Lynette, and a little ahead of them, Jamie.

Gretchen and Taylor said they ran the whole mile (Mike said they almost did). They said Dylan was mad to be in the stroller. He wanted to be out running too.

Angela , Grady, and the twins!
Coming up the hill to the finish line! Go LJ!

Soccer

You're looking at the next David Beckham (ha)! These pictures are from Taylor's game last Saturday. Taylor loves soccer. He loves going to practice, practicing in the backyard, and especially playing in the games. We have spent quite a few Saturdays in the Fall and this Spring, watching him and his cute team of boys from the neighborhood play.

Gretchen's new "do"

Gretchen got her haircut! It is a cute new style for the summer.

Best buds

This year Taylor started kindergarten. I'm so happy it is only half-day because he and Dylan have time to play together. Most of the time those two play so well. Here they are playing I Spy Go Fish. Even though it was just the two of them, they would still call each other by name, "Dylan, do you have a dog?" Dylan (and mommy) will be very sad when Taylor starts 1st grade and is gone all day.

Not just exercise

I have signed up and I've been going to classes for two weeks now! I always thought jazzercise was all 80s music, headbands, and leggings. Well, it is not. I seriously love the classes. It is cardio for 30-40 min, then toning and stretching for the rest of the hour. They incorporate aerobics (you know, the grapevines, triple steps, knee lifts, etc) kickboxing, weights, some pilates and yoga moves, too. The music is what you hear on the radio and a good mix of top 40, country, easy listening, hip hop, etc. The classes are so fun! With some of the hip moves they have us do, I feel like I'm on Dancing with the Stars, I always need to work on my hip action--that's for sure! Maybe with a little more practice. I was really burnt out on running/walking and doing DVDs at home, so this has got me excited about exercising again.
